Abstract

The phenomenon of students’ moral degradation in the era of globalization has become increasingly concerning due to the influence of social media, weak selfcontrol, lack of role models, and declining spiritual development within educational environments. This article aims to analyze the concept of moral education from the perspective of Imam Al-Ghazali as a solution to students’ moral degradation. The study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method through the analysis of Al-Ghazali’s thoughts on tazkiyatun nafs, mujahadah, and riyadhah an-nafs. The findings indicate that moral education according to Al-Ghazali emphasizes spiritual development through habituation of good behavior, self-control, exemplary conduct, and strengthening spiritual values. The analysis shows that Al-Ghazali’s concept of moral education remains relevant to modern educational conditions because it positions family, school, and society as strategic environments for character building. The Implementation of moral education can be carried out through the integration of moral values in learning activities, habituation of worsip, continuous supervision, and spiritual-emotional approaches. The study concludes that moral education based on Al-Ghazali’s perspective can serve as an alternative solution in shaping students with noble character and creating a more conducive educational environment.
