Peer Review Process

The Journal of Indonesian Education and Learning (JOIN) applies a rigorous and transparent peer-review process to ensure the quality and integrity of published articles. The steps of the process are as follows:

1. Submission

Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system. Submissions are checked for completeness and adherence to the journal's guidelines.

2. Initial Editorial Assessment

The editor-in-chief reviews the manuscript to ensure it aligns with the journal's focus and scope. Manuscripts that do not meet the criteria or exhibit significant issues (e.g., plagiarism, poor language quality) may be rejected at this stage.

3. Plagiarism Check

All submissions are screened for plagiarism using appropriate software. Manuscripts with unacceptable levels of similarity are returned to the authors or rejected.

4. Assignment to Reviewers

Eligible manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. JOIN adopts a double-blind peer-review process, meaning that both the authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review.

5. Peer Review

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on the following criteria:

  • Originality and significance of the research.
  • Clarity and coherence of the argument.
  • Soundness of methodology and data analysis.
  • Appropriateness of references and citations.
  • Relevance to the journal's scope.

Reviewers provide constructive feedback and recommendations (accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject).

6. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers' reports, the editor-in-chief makes the final decision:

  • Accepted: The manuscript is approved for publication with minor or no revisions.
  • Revisions Required: The manuscript requires minor or major revisions before acceptance.
  • Rejected: The manuscript is declined due to significant issues or lack of alignment with the journal's standards.

7. Revision Process

Authors are given a specified period to revise their manuscript based on reviewers’ and editors’ comments. Revised manuscripts are re-evaluated by the reviewers if necessary.

8. Final Acceptance

Once the manuscript meets all requirements, it is accepted for publication. Authors receive a notification of acceptance.

9. Copyediting and Publication

Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to the journal's formatting standards. The final version is published online in the next available issue.

JOIN is committed to a fair and timely review process, ensuring that high-quality research is disseminated effectively to the academic community.
