Publication Ethics
The Journal of Indonesian Education and Learning (JOIN) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. To ensure integrity and quality in scholarly publishing, JOIN adheres to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The ethical responsibilities of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher are outlined as follows:
1. Responsibilities of Authors
- Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and free from plagiarism. Proper acknowledgment of all sources must be provided.
- Data Accuracy: Authors are responsible for ensuring that data presented in their manuscript is accurate and reliable.
- Multiple Submissions: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
- Authorship: Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the research. All contributors must be properly credited.
- Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.
- Corrections: If significant errors are discovered in a published work, authors must promptly notify the journal to issue a correction or retraction.
2. Responsibilities of Editors
- Fairness: Editors must evaluate manuscripts based on academic merit, without discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religious beliefs, or political views.
- Confidentiality: Editors must ensure the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and not disclose information to unauthorized parties.
- Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where there is a conflict of interest.
- Decision-Making: Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on the journal’s policies and ethical guidelines.
3. Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and not disclose information to others.
- Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, providing constructive feedback to improve the quality of the manuscript.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers must identify relevant works that have not been cited by the authors.
- Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must decline to review manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest.
4. Responsibilities of the Publisher
- The publisher is committed to ensuring that all stages of the publication process comply with ethical standards. This includes supporting the journal’s editors, authors, and reviewers in addressing ethical concerns.
Misconduct Handling
JOIN will take all allegations of research misconduct seriously. Any unethical behavior, including plagiarism, data falsification, and duplicate publication, will be thoroughly investigated. Actions may include retraction of the article or reporting the misconduct to the appropriate authorities.
By adhering to these ethical standards, JOIN aims to maintain the integrity of the academic record and foster trust among the scholarly community.
