Plagiarism Policy
OPTIMUM: Indonesian Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ensuring that all published content is original and free from plagiarism. The journal takes plagiarism seriously and follows a strict policy to prevent, detect, and address any instances of plagiarism in submitted manuscripts.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is defined as the use of another person's ideas, research, or words without proper citation or acknowledgment, presenting them as one’s own. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Direct copying of text or data from other sources without quotation marks or citation.
- Paraphrasing or rewording someone else’s work without proper attribution.
- Using images, graphs, or tables without proper permission or citation.
- Self-plagiarism, which involves reusing one's own previously published work without proper acknowledgment.
2. Prevention and Detection
- Before an article is accepted for publication, OPTIMUM employs plagiarism detection tools (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate) to assess the originality of the manuscript and to identify any potential instances of plagiarism.
- Manuscripts with high levels of similarity to previously published works will be flagged for further review. The editorial team will investigate the nature of the similarity and take appropriate action.
3. Author Responsibility
- Authors are required to ensure that their submitted manuscripts are free from plagiarism and that all sources of information, data, and ideas are properly acknowledged and cited according to academic standards.
- Authors must submit original work and not submit manuscripts that have been published elsewhere or are under review by other journals.
- Any instances of plagiarism, whether intentional or unintentional, must be corrected by the author(s) before submission.
4. Actions in Case of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected during the review process or after publication, the following actions may be taken:
- During the Review Process: The manuscript may be returned to the author(s) for revision or rejected if plagiarism is found. In the case of serious violations, the manuscript will be rejected outright.
- After Publication: If plagiarism is identified after the article has been published, OPTIMUM may issue a correction, retraction, or clarification, depending on the severity of the plagiarism.
- In cases of significant or repeated plagiarism, the author(s) may be banned from submitting future manuscripts to the journal.
5. Ethical Publishing Practices
- OPTIMUM adheres to ethical publishing practices, which include maintaining transparency in the review process and ensuring that all published works are properly attributed and free from unethical practices such as plagiarism.
- The journal encourages authors to engage in responsible research and writing practices, ensuring that all sources are properly cited and credited.
This plagiarism policy is designed to maintain the integrity of OPTIMUM and the scholarly community by promoting responsible research practices and protecting the originality of published work.
